The new City Hall of Cabo Rojo is located on Betances Street # 28. The first structure of the City Hall was built in 1907, under the administration of Atty. José A. Fleytas y Colberg. Then, in 1958, Mrs. Blanca Colberg; the first Mayor of our city, rebuilt it with a completely modern design for that time. It is worth mentioning that the building was named “Casa Alcaldía Dr. Ramón Emeterio Betances y Alacán”.

In 2003, under the administration of the late Mayor Santos E. Padilla Ferrer; A new construction of City Hall began, which was completed in 2007. In 2007, under the administration of Hon. Perza Rodríguez Quiñones; The new City Hall was inaugurated, which was named Santos E. “San” Padilla Ferrer; in honor of this great human being who fought to give his people this beautiful structure and who was unable to enjoy it because death surprised him a few months before the inauguration. Don Santos Padilla Ferrer wanted to recreate the original façade of the first City Hall of Cabo Rojo. Its cost is approximately 4.5 million dollars.
