Jorge A.
Morales Wiscovitch

Mayor of Cabo Rojo

Born on the 17th of December of 1969, in the Bella Vista Hospital of Mayagües, Jorge Antonio Morales Wiscovitch. His mother, Ileana Wiscovitch Feliciano and his father, Jorge A. Morales Colberg (RIP). His sisters are Juliette and Pura.

He completed his primary and secondary degrees at Colegio San Agustín in Cabo Rojo, graduating from high school with honors in 1987. That year he entered the Faculty of Business at the University of Puerto Rico, Mayagüez Campus and obtained a bachelor's degree in Accounting.

During his years as a student, he stood out as a player and organizer of basketball tournaments. For his dedication, delivery and enthusiasm in each sporting activity, he earned multiple recognitions from classmates, teachers and directors.

After working several years for the private company, he began working at the San Agustin School in Cabo Rojo, where he taught physical education classes. He directed the basketball team, organized sport activities, and was the founder of the basketball shootout. In addition, he carries out administrative tasks in the school’s office.

Due to his excellent contribution to sports in our town, in 1997, he was recruited by the mayor, Honorable Santos E. Padilla Ferrer (RIP), to direct the Department of Recreation and Sports of the Municipality of Cabo Rojo. He has another opportunity to develop his skills and ideas. He contributes and achieves, as a team with the mayor, important and significant projects for Cabo Rojo. The transformation of the sport began; the remodeling of the Relín Sosa Athletic Track and the Tuto Mendoza ball park. The construction of indoor courts in practically all neighborhoods of Cabo Rojo. He contributed and advised on their design. He was the father of the renaissance of children's and youth basketball, organizing all the minor categories that later resulted in remaking the Caborrojeña Basketball League (LIBACA), Caborrojeña Children's Basketball School (ECABI), Pirate League, Tourist League and Caborrojeña League tournaments. As a result of his initiative, he was President of the Inter-neighborhood Basketball Leagues and the Veterans League (Masters) and organized the youth category.

In continuous effort, he raised the Little League baseball in Cabo Rojo, the Superior Class B baseball tournament, the Municipal Night Softball tournament and contributed greatly to the development of Class A and Double A baseball in our town.

He supported different sports organizations to develop highly relevant events such as: Joyuda’ Great Triathlon, NORCECA Beach Volleyball Tournament, Latin American Little League Baseball Series and Women's Children's and Youth softball tournaments.

He organized fun summer camps for Cabo Rojo’s children. Additionally, he was a pioneer in establishing a school sports program together with the physical education teachers and the approval of the directors.

He supported the CAMPIRA group, an innovative experience where seniors participated in recreational and sporting events, thus improving their quality of life through exercise.

For the Patron Saint Festivities, he organized the San Miguel Arcángel Marathon, the traditional Palo Encebao and various activities for the enjoyment of the people. It should be noted that “Jorgito'' was a basketball manager for more than 20 years. He was also a basketball referee for the National Council of Referees where he won the Rookie of the Year award.

Due to his dedication to his work and his interpersonal relationship skills, he is appointed Director of the Municipality's Human Resources Department. He establishes various programs and training for employees and is then a member of the Government Ethics Committee.

Given the unexpected death of the mayor, Hon. Santos “San” Padilla Ferrer, his successor, Honorable Perza Rodríguez Quiñones, sees in “Jorgito” his high sense of responsibility, leadership capacity, organization and teamwork, and decides to appoint him Vice Mayor of the Autonomous Municipality of Cabo Rojo.

Continuing with his desire to serve his people, he developed a housing rehabilitation program for people with limited economic resources, under which materials were donated and/or the homes of those most in need were repaired.

It should be noted that while working, he carried out studies leading to the degree of jurisdiction from the Eugenio María de Hostos Law School.

He has 3 beautiful children who are the light of his eyes: Jorge Andrés, Mariana Isabel and Daniela.

In the 2020 elections, he was elected mayor by the will of his people who recognized his worth in every sense of the word.
