It is the most central neighborhood bordering Miradero to the north and Boquer\u00f3n to the south. There are many legends about the Cofres\u00ed Pirate Cave. There are those who say that Cofres\u00ed hid the loot he stole from merchant ships there, but no one has ever found anything. According to the Puerto Rican historian Don Aurelio T\u00edo, Cofres\u00ed enjoyed the protection and friendship of a part of the population on the coasts of P.R. with whom the Pirate shared his loot, mainly his family and friends from Guaniquilla and the Morrillos del Faro de Cabo Rojo.
